Breaking Through 5 Well Established Chiropractor Myths

Each day millions of people go to the chiropractor. However, there is still a stigma floating around about seeing a chiropractor. Myths are still attached and whispers are spoken about what are presumed to go on behind closed doors at the chiropractor’s office. Today, we are going to blow those myths right out of the water and talk openly about what really happens at the chiropractor’s office.

Myth #1: Chiropractors are not really doctors. When you start researching chiropractors, you find out they go through the same amount of training as doctors. They go to a four-year university just like doctors before they can attend a Chiropractic College. Then they spend 4200 hours at Chiropractic College studying and doing an internship just like other doctors before they earn their doctorate just like all other doctors.

Myth #2: Chiropractors are addicting. Chiropractors are no more addicting than your family doctor. You go to your doctor when you get sick and he or she makes you feel better. When you get sick you go back. The same thing happens with the chiropractor. You go to the chiropractor makes you feel balanced and aligned. When you no longer feel balanced and aligned, you go back again.

Myth #4: Chiropractors only treat back and neck injuries. This is a common misconception. However, chiropractors work on a wide range of problems. They can work on a sports related injury, work injuries, headaches, pregnancy issues, all sorts of joint issues, chronic pain, and much more. If you are suffering from any type of problem, ask a chiropractor.

Myth #4: The chiropractor can’t help because it is not my back. Chiropractors are trained to help many types of injuries and problems. While they are most known for back injuries, they can help an assortment of problems including: headaches, joint pain, TMJ, pregnancy pain, sports injuries, neck pain, herniated disc, and much more.

Advanced Dog Training: How to Teach “Leave It” in 3 Easy Steps

Your puppy deserves to learn more than just the basics in dog training. The “Leave It” command is the next step in dog training and it teaches your dog how to become a well-behaved pooch. With one simple command, your dog can go anywhere safely without fear of eating or touching something dangerous.

Concept of Leave It: Unlike the “Wait” command, “Leave It” is given when you do not want your dog to touch the object at all. It is given when leaving your plate of food behind or when you are passing a dropped ice cream cone on the side walk. In any case, your dog NEVER gets the object.

Step 1: Easy Leave It The easy stage is taught inside with no distractions. You place your dog in a sit and put a non-desirable object in front of your dog. Give the Leave It command, wait 2 to 3 seconds then praise your dog for not touching the object. Once your dog gets used to the undesirable object, start practicing with a plate of food. Be ready to snatch it away at the first sign your puppy is making a move on the food. Praise your puppy before they make the attempt.

Step 2: Moderate Leave It: Your dog has passed the easy stage when you can leave a desirable object in front of them for several minutes. However, they know you are there and you will snatch it away. Now you are going to slowly back away from the object. Be ready to rush back giving a NO! command and snatching the object if the puppy makes an attempt on the object. Don’t forget to praise and give alternate treats as a reward for leaving the object.

Step 3: Difficult Leave It Your puppy is ready for the difficult stage when you can give the Leave It command, walk out of the room, come back and the food is untouched. The difficult Leave It is taught by walking by an object and giving the Leave It command. If your dog goes for it, give a firm NO! and try again.
